    • SSCT is a scientific discussion forum for cell toxicologists primarily, but not exclusively, active in northern Europe. The main aim is to create an innovative research network by arranging an In Vitro Toxicology Workshop each year in a Nordic country (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, or Sweden) to present research, exchange ideas and to facilitate research collaboration. Proceedings of these meetings have been published in ATLA 1985-2007 and from 2008 in Toxicology In Vitro.

    • The SSCT Workshop is an excellent forum for young researchers to be introduced to the scientific community of more experienced and distinguished cell toxicologists. The best oral presentation made by a graduate student at the Workshop is awarded by a prize sponsored by GAMBRO AB.

    • SSCT hands out the Björn Ekwall Memorial Award every year to scientists who significantly have contributed to the field of cell toxicology (bemf.eu).

    • SSCT is an affiliated society to the European Society for Toxicology In Vitro (ESTIV.org). SSCT members can become members of ESTIV to a reduced fee.
